May I share with you how our rescue puppy Rocky Rockstar has done just that?
As a survivor of childhood domestic violence, I lost my beautiful mum in an act of violence when I was just seven years old.
I was immediately separated from my older siblings, twin and put into foster homes where I was bullied and abused.
As a mother of two teenagers myself now, I have fond memories of being read to once by a beautiful foster mother, during my 6 years in 13 foster homes.
“I was able to escape the reality of my life for a moment by using my imagination to lose myself in the stories and believe a happy ending is possible”
This inspired me to write these first two books Puppy Rescue and Tiger in my children’s series The Adventures of Jessie and Rocky Rockstar.
These are stories about the loving bond our rescue puppy Rocky Rockstar has with our daughter Jessie and the life lessons he teaches her about compassion and kindness.
“The synchronicity of rescuing Rocky Rockstar from a foster shelter, as a mother, for my beautiful daughter Jessie and giving him a loving family life, to today writing a children’s series about the beautiful bond they share, completes the circle of life and is proof you can correct the past by changing the future.
After eight years investigating my file as a child of the foster ward the New Zealand Government paid me a small amount of compensation money for the abuse I experienced over the five years in the foster care system.
I put that money aside and have now used it to publish these two books Puppy Rescue and Tiger because I wanted the money to make a positive significant impact on children’s lives moving forward.
Jessie was just four years old when my first marriage broke up and struggling with the separation.
She attended Paradise Kids grief and loss program and it helped her immensely in dealing with her emotions at the time.
